AfriCatwalk: Deenola DesignZ
It goes without saying that fashion trends, the arts, in general, take up a significant portion of our lives. However, I think it is important at underdarock.com that we continue to showcase the talents of those artists who are rooted in our very own motherland: Africa. The African continent is home to many top designers, and in commemoration of this, the Fashion team at underdarock.com promises to bring a weekly spotlight of some of Africa’s outstanding and aspiring designers. If you know of a designer who deserves the spotlight, e-mail me: fadearewa@underdarock.com.
This week’s spotlight: Deenola Designz
Deenola Designz is “about going back to your roots and embracing your present through interesting African fabrics and contemporary silhouettes.” The company is the brain child of both eena D and Ola B of the Comoros Islands and Cameroon. They use the arts and contemporary music to inspire Deenola Designz.
Personally, what I mostly appreciate about Deenola’s work is the cleanliness and creativity of the design. The material is fairly unique, yet doesn’t overwhelm with its pattern. You can check more of their work out at Africa Fashion Week in Dublin Ireland: http://www.africanfashionweekenddublin.com

I can't help but wonder how long it will take for African designs and designers to gain mainstream respect in the fashion Industry. I just check out more Deenola Designs and it's very modern, thanks for sharing.
Queenbklyn, thank you for your comment.
I think bits and pieces of African designs can be seen in the fashion industry, and we are slowly gaining recognition. We thank folks like Iman, Anna Getaneh and Alex Wek, who do an excellent job of representing Africans on the runway. Underdarock hopes to continue to showcase African talent.
