You have to ask yourself, what is Easter or What does Easter mean to me? Depending on who you are, the answer is different from everyone.
For everyone in Europe and Africa, you might be excited cause of the days off from work. Or if you are a Muslim, or any other religion different from Christianity, the meaning may also be different for you.
As for me personally, I used to look forward to Easter weekend as a time of good seafood. My mom was a hardcore Catholic, almost like a mobster with the cross.
Every Easter she used to cook the best seafood ever, and hook it up with some pounded yam or Jollof rice. In our house hold, it was known never to eat meat or anything food with blood on Good Friday. We were told if you do, you are eating and drinking the blood of Jesus. Even when she couldn’t afford to wear a new outfit, she will buy us the best clothes just for Easter Sunday.
But as for the real story of Easter according to the Bible. This was the time Jesus died for our sins and raised from the dead on the 3rd day.
We are not Jesus and most of us will not die for anybody, but this time just really makes me appreciate life and the people that I care about. When you love someone, you expect so much from him/her but you should ask yourself, what are you doing for your partner? How much do you tolerate? Can you forgive their sins?
