To show people what he’s about, BigD has dropped 2 new and banging singles. The first, titled “No Contest” features Dancehall heavyweight, General Pype and was produced by Sossick. The second single is titled “it is just rap”.

BigD’s No Contest is a ‘dancehall meets rap’ song, which was inspired by the need to create something for the “club hoppers” in Nigeria and beyond. The song produced by award winning producer Sossick features Gen. Pype (who better to drop on a dancehall track), who did his thing without a doubt. According to BigD “No contest was just another track that I felt the need to brag on and murder”.

“It is just rap” by BigD is a track guaranteed to get Hip-Hop heads and music lovers generally to bob their heads. It is BigD’s way of saying that a lot more could be done to better the kind of songs we churn out in the Naija music scene. The track was produced by the ‘calm yet mean on the beat’ Victor who was also responsible for taking the interesting hook (You need to listen to find out why).

Ifan whose government name is Ifeanyi Michael is an indigene of Anambra state but he was born in Port Harcourt. He is an RnB pop singer, songwriter, instrumentalist who started out as an actor while he was young.

As an actor, he has featured in movies alongside renowned acts like Nonso Diobi, Patience Ozorkwo (popularly referred to as Mama G), Comic act John Okafor best known as Mr Ibu, just to mention a few. The artist is making as much mark as a singer as he has worked with artistes like Mo’Cheeda, Kefee, Vector, Rooftop MCs, Mike Anyasodo, Kel and several other up coming artistes.

Ifan was in the news weeks after ‘My girl’ was released over a misquote by a journalist over the similarity in the chordal progression of the record with Ice Prince’s Oleku. Ifan had met Jesse Jagz and Ice Prince before ‘Oleku’ was recorded, playing his record which was newly recorded at their meet – before hit song ‘Oleku’ from Ice Prince was made, stating this to a journalist and expressing his surprise and excitement in the similarity in the chordal progression of his record ‘my girl’ with Ice Prince’s Oleku, he was misquoted as saying Ice Prince stole his ‘progression’. The artiste swiftly addressed the report, shooting down the alleged claim.

The debut single ‘My girl’ is a mid tempo love record which an impressive synergy between the two artistes on the record – Ifan and Gen. Pype.

Besides headlining act, Lynxxx, the concert will also include performances by Banky W, Waje, Wizkid, Naeto C, Efya, Dipo, Chukky P, Rilwan and SDC.

His debut album has also just been released into the Nigerian album.The album – ‘This is Lynxxx’ features Lynxxx alongside music stars including Mo’Cheddah, General Pype, Ikechukwu, Ghanaian songstress – Efya, Naeto C and many others. The tracks on the album were produced by Ikon, Ola Babs (Syndik8 Records affiliated), DJ Klem (Knighthouse) and Killbeats from Ghana.

The song is a collaborative effort of so many Nigerian artistes like Jon O, Waje, Mocheddah, General Pype, ChiDynma, Malaika, Tiwa Savage, Oldsqul, Freeze, Femi Adeyinka, Edikim, Hakym, and produced by OJB.

This year, the organizers of the awards embarked on a media tour from May 3, 2010 with select nominees. “It is just our way of saying thank you to the media for their support since inception, without them, the journey thus far could not have been easy. We know the impact of the media on this project, and we are extremely grateful to them for their immense support” Executive Producer Ayo Animashaun told news men last week.

The media tour kicked off with the visit of the Next Rated nominees to Next Newspapers, Oregun on May 3, 2010. The following days saw nominees of Revelation of the year, song of the year, Collaboration of the year, Rap single, Female vocal talent, male vocal talent and pop single/ RNB single visit Punch, This Day, Vanguard, Star FM, Beat FM, Radio Continental and Prime time Entertainment respectively.

Representing Next Rated category was Mocheddah, Skuki, General Pype, Jesse Jagz and the Prince. Omawumi, Ill Bliss and Djinee visited Punch on behalf of the “Revelation of the year” category.
Others include Waje, Ibiyemi, Eva, GT, Terry tha rapman, MI, Knighthouse, Femi, Kefee, Art Quake, GT the Guitar man, Timi Dakolo and Banky W.

The organizers are expected to continue with a radio storm they have tagged “Battle Royale” on Beat FM. The will start from Battle Royale will start from May 14, 2010 to the week of the event.

“It is just a feel good thing, where nominees come to battle, solicit for votes as well as mingle” Animashaun offers.
This year’s awards is scheduled to hold on May 29, 2010 at the Eko Exhibition hall from 6pm. Tagged Power, Prestige and Pride, nominees, artistes, invitees and special guest will be treated to a yellow carpet reception from 6pm after which the event will kick off.
